Keep humans in control of AI.

AI is moving faster than anyone can steer it. So a bunch of creators you probably already watch got together, like they once did for Team Trees, and they're asking governments for one thing: slow down, together.

65 creators, 300 million subscribers and 77,395 signatures on the Superintelligence Statement.

How much of the internet has to be fake?

How many artists have to compete with copies of themselves? How many kids grow up shaped by algorithms no parent chose?

Nobody here is saying AI is evil. The problem is the race. It's going too fast for anyone to steer, and no company will hit the brakes on its own.

Human or machine?

Five lines. Some were said by people, some sound like a chatbot wrote them. Can you still tell the difference?

The scientists are worried too.

“It is hard to see how you can prevent the bad actors from using it for bad things.”
Geoffrey Hinton, Nobel Prize in Physics 2024, on leaving Google. The New York Times, May 2023
“The question is whether we will develop such solutions in time to avoid catastrophic outcomes.”
Yoshua Bengio, Turing Award winner 2018. TIME, December 2025

One demand: slow down.

No AI smarter than humans until scientists agree it can be built safely and the public says yes. In practice, that means two things:

Build the brakes

The most powerful AI runs on a few kinds of special chips. Keep track of them the way we keep track of what goes into nuclear weapons.

Enforce a speed limit

The US, China and the other big players slow down together, and an independent watchdog, like the one for nuclear energy, checks that they do.

Sounds impossible? The world has done it before, with nuclear weapons and with the ozone layer. And people have been warning about AI for a while:

  1. An open letter asks AI labs to pause their biggest experiments.
  2. Top AI scientists warn that extinction risk from AI is a global priority.
  3. Hinton, Bengio, Wozniak and thousands more sign the Superintelligence Statement.
  4. Creators start Team Human and take it to their own audiences.

Cueva de las Manos, Argentina. These hands are about 9,000 years old.

The oldest signature.

Long before writing, people pressed a hand to the rock and blew paint around it. It was their way of saying: I was here.

A name on a petition is the same thing today. In November, every one of them gets handed to lawmakers in Washington D.C. and Brussels.

What you can do.

  1. Sign the petition. It takes about a minute. It's at the top of this page.
  2. Ask a creator you watch to join. Leave a comment under their latest video. That's how the list got to 65.
  3. Tell your representative. Lawmakers count who speaks up, and a short message is enough. You can use this one: Hi, I live in your district. I'm asking you to support an international agreement to slow down the development of AI that is smarter than humans, until it can be built safely. Thank you.
  4. Leave your hand on the wall. Tap the cave photo above and it stays there for everyone who comes after you. It's just for fun, not a signature.
  5. Wear the frame for 30 days. Put the Team Human frame on your profile picture, so people ask what it is.

We were here.
Let's stay.
